Covering the stern ….

October 30, 2016

The stern of the ship has a cover that survived the storm and still provides protection for the shipwrights and volunteers. The covers also protect the ship from the rain and sunshine – both having a detrimental affect on the timbers. While the ship is uncovered care must be taken as to when the power to the ship is turned on. Power tools and lighting are therefore not always available.

The new framing for the covers is complete after many pieces were broken in the storm or discovered to be rotten after several years of use.
