Port sheer strake installed …

June 5, 2016

The port sheer strake has been attached to the frames and undercoated. The shipwrights with volunteer assistance during the past week have lifted the large timbers into position and temporarily bolted, spiked or clamped them. When appropriate the timber will be permanently fixed. With the sheer strake in position several further strakes were set at the bow, involving many hours of steaming the timber. This allows the timbers to be shaped to the bends and curves of the hull and then maintain this shape when they have cooled.
