New hawseholes ….

June 5, 2016

First photo shows one of the two damaged / worn hawseholes from the Alma Doepel. John, a volunteer has spent several months shaping the required “moulds” that will enable a foundry to make 2 new hawseholes for the ship. Very simplistically the moulds are used to leave hollow spaces in special foundry sand and these spaces are then filled with molten iron. The iron when cleaned of sand and any imperfections will be one of the two hawseholes needed.
