Port beam shelf completed ….

April 1, 2016

The port beam shelf has been completed and undercoated. This has benn a large task for the shipwrights and volunteers whom assisted. Several large sections have been shaped and carried to the ship. Holes have been used to insert the sections into the inside of the hull. The front section was steamed to fit the correct shape of the frames. This now means that the starboard and port beam shelves are complete, save for some further undercoating. Another milestone in the restoration project.

The photos start at the bow and move towards the stern – showing beam shelf firstly in the VIP cabin, accommodation cabin, the wet area, the engine room and finally the unpainted section in the Master’s cabin at the stern. .
